Description
The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) is the State’s lead agency in attracting private investment in resources exploration and development. It achieves this through the provision of geoscientific information on mineral and energy resources, and management of equitable and secure titles systems for the mining, petroleum and geothermal industries.
The DMP maintains a number of medium to large business systems, which support DMP staff in providing the above functions, including the lodgement, payment and tracking of over 100 different types of applications, as well as allowing the resources industry to access a wide range of exploration data and services,
The systems are developed primarily in J2EE and ASP.NET. Although Microsoft .Net is the preferred platform for developing new applications, there are several strategic applications which will continue to remain in J2EE. A Services Oriented Architecture has been adopted to integrate across the various applications, with most of it implemented by asynchronous messaging. Most of the applications are supported by Microsoft SQL Server databases, with a couple of legacy applications on IBM DB2.
The DMP is seeking submissions for the provision, installation, configuration and maintenance of an Application Performance Monitoring product.
The DMP has an existing monitoring platform in place covering basic server performance metrics (using NetIQ AppManager). Submissions for the Application Performance Monitoring product should aim to supplement the functionality of Net IQ AppManager to provide both deeper and broader levels of information in relation to end-user application behaviour.
The guiding vision is to expose application behaviour metrics to ensure the ongoing efficacy of critical business applications and to assist application development activity to achieve performance optimisation for application responsiveness and scalability.
