Implementation - cancer care services and specialist outpatient services reviews

The Queensland Government is seeking offers to undertake the implementation of recommendations identified from recent reviews of two service areas within the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service: cancer care services and specialist outpatient services.

The opening of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) in April 2017 has marked a change in the way that healthcare is delivered to the population of the Sunshine Coast.

Like many health services which have undergone significant transition, the need exists to review and continuously improve service models and workforce utilisation to ensure they are optimised and consistent with sustainable, cost-effective performance.

Consequently, the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service recently organised for two peer reviews to be conducted by external parties; Clinical review of the SCHHS cancer care services (April 2019) and Specialist outpatient service review SCUH (May 2019).

For each review, a report and recommendations for consideration and implementation by the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service were provided.

Leadership and governance were key themes in both reviews which will require a strong change management focus to implement.

Change will be facilitated and enabled by internal management and leadership groups to deliver effective and long-term change. Complex change management as required with the implementation of the recommendations of the above reviews, will require support and guidance from an external professional service provider (Supplier).
