Description
The Department of Health and Ageing is seeking tenders from capable and experienced individuals or organisations to conduct a scoping study to explore any barriers to registration and listing of paediatric medicines in Australia as experienced by the pharmaceutical industry.
The aims of the study will be to :
• identify and define the barriers, including economic barriers, to industry in making medicines suitable for paediatric use available in Australia;
• identify and define the barriers to industry in maintaining availability of medicines suitable for paediatric use in Australia;
• confirm actual versus perceived barriers, taking into account current legislation, policies and processes; and
• identify possible solutions to address the barriers identified.
Experience in, or an understanding of, the pharmaceutical industry and the regulatory and subsidy framework for pharmaceuticals in Australia, as well as knowledge of the issues around access to paediatric medicines, will be essential in undertaking this study.
