Cleland Wildlife Park Master Plan
Details
Description
DENR is responsible for South Australia's nature conservation, heritage conservation and animal welfare. Cleland Wildlife Park is one of South Australia’s leading tourism attractions and a key commercial site for DENR. The 35 hectare park is located within Cleland Conservation Park, approximately 30 minutes drive from Adelaide’s CBD and close to the Mount Lofty Summit and the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. Approximately 100,000 people visit Cleland Wildlife Park each year, primarily to view over 130 species of native animals including koalas, free roaming kangaroos, emus and wallabies, as well as various bird, mammal and reptile species.
A strategic plan, developed in 2009, clarified the purpose of Cleland Wildlife Park and provided a framework for renewing the visitor experience. The development of a Brand Strategy and Interpretation Framework, as well as consumer analysis, have further defined the role of Cleland Wildlife Park and lead to the identification of a range of operational issues and opportunities to enhance and revitalise the business.
In consultation with key stakeholders, DENR is seeking a supplier to develop a Master Plan for Cleland Wildlife Park that documents how the strategies and priorities identified in relevant supporting documentation (including the Cleland Wildlife Park Strategic Plan, Cleland Wildlife Park Brand Strategy, and Cleland Wildlife Park Interpretation Framework) can be achieved. The Master Plan will also be required to address a number of operational issues. Proposals developed for the Master Plan will aim to increase net revenue generation from the site, provide an acceptable return on investment and improve the relevance and reputation of Cleland Wildlife Park.
