Local Operator Services for the River Murray River Vessel Waste Disposal Stations

The objectives of the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) are to ensure that South Australia is a prosperous state where:
• natural resources are used wisely and a healthy environment is a priority
• there are always sufficient and sustainable water resources for our health, our economy, our environment and our lifestyle.

The department operates 13 River Vessel Waste Disposal Stations along the length of the River Murray at Lock 6 (Chowilla), Renmark, Berri, Loxton, Lock 3 (Overland Corner), Waikerie, Morgan, Blanchetown, Swan Reach, Walker Flat, Mannum, Murray Bridge and Goolwa. These stations provide a sewage and waste disposal service to operators of houseboats and other recreational vessels on the river.

The operation and maintenance of each River Vessel Waste Disposal Station is currently undertaken through two separate contracts. They are a Mechanical and Electrical services (trades) contract and Local Operator (non-trade) contract. The scope of this Request for Tender is the Local Operator contract(s) for the River Vessel Waste Disposal Stations at Lock 6 (Chowilla), Renmark, Berri, Loxton, Lock 3 (Overland Corner), Waikerie, Morgan, Blanchetown, Swan Reach, Walker Flat, Mannum, Murray Bridge and Goolwa, as described in Part B.

It will be possible for the same contractor to be appointed as the Local Operator for one, several or all of the 13 stations.

The Local Operation Contractors responsibilities include the initial response to calls from river vessel operators about operational problems at stations, general maintenance, monitoring and cleaning of the RVWDS and minor repairs.
