Description
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is undertaking a High-Capacity Signalling (HCS) Project to replace the existing Transperth rail network signalling and control system with a state-of-the-art, radio-based, in-cab system. The new Automatic Train Control (ATC) system will allow increased service frequencies to meet the rail demand forecast under long-term transport planning. PTA will deliver the HCS Project under an Alliance contract model and awarded a contract for the delivery to Alstom-DTI Alliance (AD Alliance) on 18 July 2024. The PTA’s Radio Systems Replacement (RSR) project will deliver a Digital Radio System (DRS) based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology using spectrum owned by PTA in the 1800 MHz band. The DRS will replace the PTA’s aging Analogue Radio System (ARS) operating over the existing electrified passenger network in the 400 MHz band which has been in operation since electrification in the early 1990’s. The new DRS will be the primary communications bearer for the on-board ATC System of the High-Capacity Signalling (HCS) Project. The contractor is to provide appropriately experienced and qualified personnel to join the PTA's engineering team to support the low voltage electrical services upgrading works of HCS and RSR project in various location within Perth metropolitan area.
