Description
Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 1995 In accordance with Section 19 of the above Act, the Transport Commission is required to make additional perpetual taxi licences available in certain Tasmanian taxi areas. The number of licences offered in each taxi area is equivalent to 5% of the existing number of perpetual taxi licences currently on issue in the relevant taxi area. The licences are offered for sale by tender. In accordance with Section 19(4) of the Act, the Transport Commission must not accept a tender that is less than the Assessed Market Value for a licence in any particular taxi area as detailed below: Taxi Area Number of Licences Assessed Market Value Devonport 1 $46,000 Hobart 11 $120,000 Launceston 5 $57,000 These licences are perpetual licences and become the personal property of the owner. Perpetual licences can be leased.
