Description

The Defence Materiel Organisation is currently developing a Request For Tender (RFT) as part of the acquisition program for Land 75 and Land 125 to acquire Battle Management Systems for mounted and dismounted operations. In January 2006 ITR No. EWS 05/01 provided notice of an Invitation to register interest for the proposed Land 75 Battle Management System (BMS). Subsequent to that notice the requirements for Land 75 (BMS) and Land 125 (Soldier Combat System) were combined and a single RFT for the selection of a Prime Systems Integrator covering both requirements will now be released in November 2006. The combined requirement will be seeking a fully interoperable Dismounted and Mounted Battle Management System The Dismounted BMS with associated communications bearer will provide fire team to sub-unit commanders with digital map based situational awareness and preformatted message functionality. The communications bearer will provide voice and data capability for enabling Battle Management System and command radio net connectivity. The Mounted BMS will provide a similar capability to mounted combat commanders by integrating a BMS into the fighting vehicle fleets within the combined arms team. This system may have increased functionality compared to the Dismounted DMS. Interoperability between like BMS, either of Australian Defence or allied forces will be facilitated through the adoption of the Variable Message Format (VMF) tactical data link message standard. A pre-RFT release Industry Brief, including an opportunity for industry participants to inspect vehicles, will be held at Robertson Barracks, Darwin from 30 October 2006 to 3 November 2006. Written application (or a signed electronic document [prefer .pdf]) to attend the Industry Brief/Vehicle Inspection is essential and must be sent to: Land 75 Battle Management System Project Manager R3-3-030 RUSSELL Canberra ACT 2600 Australia Ph. [phone hidden] Fax [phone hidden] Email to: [email hidden] by COB on 12th October 2006.
