Description

The Safe Haven Café model is designed to work alongside emergency departments to provide an after-hours alternative option to people experiencing mental health distress. The alternative model offers peer-based support for people who may otherwise have attended an ED, but do not need intensive clinical support. This will be one of the two Safe Haven Cafes' to be established in WA - one metropolitan and one rural/remote to provide alternatives to attending an Emergency Department (ED) for mental health concerns that do not require intensive clinical interventions.

A Safe Haven Cafe will be based at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) and will provide an alternative for people experiencing mental health distress and will be open for approximately 15 hours per week.
