During the trial, independent assessors employed by one or more contracted assessment management organisations will use the AN-ACC assessment tool to complete around 5600 Assessments of the functional capacities of residential aged care recipients in a sample of aged care homes. The Department will select the aged care homes participating in the trial.

Contracted entities will provide Assessment management services for the trial, specifically to:

  • attract, recruit, onboard and retain suitably qualified Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists as assessors during the trial and provide evidence to the Department that each assessor has current unrestricted AHPRA registration
  • liaise with participating aged care homes for the purpose of scheduling Assessment periods and complete the agreed number of Assessments using the AN-ACC assessment tool hosted on an associated iPad application (iPad to be supplied by the Department)
  • develop and operate a clinical support framework for assessors to ensure the quality of Assessments, and
  • provide feedback to the Department throughout the trial as required.

The Department requires around 5600 Assessments to be completed as part of the trial, to be distributed as follows:

  • 4000 Assessments of residents of aged care homes in Modified Monash Model (MM) regions 1-2
  • 1500 Assessments of residents of aged care homes in MM regions 3-5, and
  • 100 Assessments of residents of aged care homes in MM regions 6-7.

Tenderers are invited to submit a Tender to deliver Services for part, parts, or the whole Services:

  • in multiples of 1000 Assessments in MM regions 1-2
  • in multiples of 500 Assessments in MM regions 3-5, and
  • in multiples of 50 Assessments in MM regions 6-7.

Tenderers must also clearly outline any limits on specific geographic areas in which they are willing to provide Services. The Department may, at its sole and absolute discretion, select one or more Tenderers to provide Services in each geographic area. The Department may seek to negotiate with a preferred Tenderer the geographic area (or areas) in which the Tenderer will complete the Assessments.
