WOMEN’S & CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL DAY SURGERY UNIT REDEVELOPMENT

Expressions of interest in tendering for the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Day Surgery Unit Redevelopment are invited from DAIS Pre-qualified General Building Contractors in Category 2. The works will be tendered as a lump sum contract and comprise a complete refurbishment to areas of the Good Friday and Rogerson Buildings on both the second and third floors (approximately 2,870 m2). Refurbishment will Create a new admissions and day surgery unit, upgraded theatre, holding bay, new consulting rooms administration offices a new Sleep Disorders unit and new Endocrinology unit. The work will generally include new partitions, floor coverings, ceilings joinery, upgrade of hydraulics, electrical, communications,/ data, mechanical services, medical gases, fire detection and a new fire sprinkler system throughout It is proposed that the tender call for the project will be in January /Februaury2001, with work to commence in late March 2001. Registrations will be assessed on project specific responses received to the following selection criteria: - Evidence of similar work successfully undertaken in operating public hospitals over the past 4 years. - Overview of key issues in successful delivery of hospital projects in facilities, which are operating and accessed by the public. - Proposed key personnel to undertake the works. Curriculum vitae should be provided and recent experience in construction/refurbishment work within operating hospitals is preferred. A short list will be determined from the Registration of Interest responses received. Registrations will only be considered from DAIS tenderers who are Prequalified General Building Contractors in Category 2 at the time Expression of Interest closes. No registration will necessarily be accepted.
