Background
The Public Transport Authority (PTA)’s Network and Infrastructure division is delivering various multidisciplinary projects in the design and delivery stages including the Claremont Station Project and the Nowergup Depot Upgrade. In addition there are a number of other projects in the pipeline. These projects require an experienced and qualified person to perform the duties of Coordinating Project Engineer (CPE).
Scope of Services
The scope will be to fulfil the role of CPE on various medium to high risk projects within the Network and Infrastructure division. The CPE must have experience in the design and delivery of multi-disciplinary railway infrastructure projects in alignment with PTA’s CPE Competency Matrix. The appointed CPE shall:
- understand the requirements of the PTA Procedure Engineering Management for Projects to support the Project Manager with the delivery of the relevant Stages of each project;
- be familiar with the PTA Project Management Framework;
- possess knowledge and experience of asset design practice, including compliance management;
- understand the interfaces between the range of engineering disciplines on rail infrastructure projects;
- demonstrates the leadership, management and communications skills to undertake the role;
- bring experience of safety in design practices;
- provide technical guidance and advice to project managers and project engineers;
- support project managers with the planning and monitoring of deliverables by design consultants;
- participate in internal and external meetings as a technical representative PTA projects; and
- participate in other tasks as required.
The final appointment of CPE will be subject to the output of the Competency Assessment by PTA Engineering Manager on behalf of the General Manager, Network and Infrastructure. The responsibilities of the CPE are outlined within the Procedure Engineering Management for Projects (8110-100-013).
The CPE will be report to the Program Managers/ Project Managers. The CPE’s accountabilities include responsibility for engineering assurance and the coordination and integration of technical and engineering deliverables through the design and construction phases as well as entry into service and acceptance of assets and infrastructure.
The Consultant is required to be committed on a full time basis of up to 40 hours per week from 1 February 2020 until 30 June 2021 with the possibility of extension to meet project demands.
