Description

The Audit Committee's role is to provide independent assurance to the Secretary and the departmental Executive on the Department's financial and performance reporting responsibilities, risk oversight and management, internal control and compliance framework along with its external accountability responsibilities.

The Audit Committee is a blend of an external Chair and internal and external members. The Committee relies on the expertise and knowledge of its external members to support the objectives of the Committee.


Committee members must discharge their duties with honesty, objectivity and probity. Conflicts of interest are declared annually at a minimum, or on an as needs basis during the year.

The Audit Committee will meet a minimum of four times per year. Further meetings may be scheduled, subject to approval from the Department.
