QLD Department of Energy and Public Works
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Queensland Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) Readiness Assessment (Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan)
Details
Description
The Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan (QEJP) and the associated Energy (Renewable Transformation and Jobs) Bill 2023 commits Queensland to new Renewable Energy Targets (QRETs) of 70 per cent by 2032 and 80 per cent by 2035. According to QEJP modelling, to achieve these targets an additional 22GW of new renewable energy must be added to the grid by 2035. The SuperGrid Infrastructure Blueprint outlines how much renewable energy is needed to meet these targets and the optimal infrastructure pathway.

The SME will be required to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in conducting community readiness assessments and/or strategic cumulative impact assesments
- Expertise in renewable energy development and its impact on local communities.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with local stakeholders.
