Description

GENERAL1.1This technical specification describes the requirements to be met by the contractor in supplying up to two (2) new or used mini hydraulic excavator(s) for use by the Australian Antarctic Division in Antarctica. The mini excavator(s) will be used for small scale excavating work at the Antarctic stations and should have a gross weight of 5 tonne and have engine power rating of 30kW.

1.2Tenderers are requested to provide separate pricing details for each excavator at Attachment D Pricing Schedule of the RFT documentation.

1.2The successful tenderer is to supply, modify, service, commission and deliver the excavator(s) to the Australian Antarctic Division, Kingston, Tasmania.In addition, the supplier will be required to provide whole of life support which may include:a)operator and mechanical trainingb)technical supportc)provision of spare parts, special tools and test equipment2SELECTION2.1The equipment characteristics specified generally describe the nature and extent of the Commonwealths requirement. 2.2Tenderers should note that tenders for part supply shall not be considered as, in order to standardise, the Division requires the most cost effective, practical and maintainable plant fleet from a single contractor capable of providing full support in Tasmania.2.3The AAD is seeking a new or used machine in very good condition.The AAD will consider offers of excavators with less than 2000 hours of engine operation.2.4Alternatives to details specified shall only be considered if full details are tendered and they are clearly to the Commonwealth's advantage.2.5As part of the evaluation process, tenderers may be required to demonstrate to the satisfaction of a Division's delegate the capability of the equipment to perform as claimed.
