The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) is undertaking a project to implement dual switches at the network core to provide increased availability and resilience in case of device failure.
This is to be achieved by building a new Cisco 6509 that is fully VSS capable, upgrading the existing Cisco 6509 to be fully VSS capable, and interconnecting the two switches to run as a VS system.
