Recyclables Processing Services

Mackay Regional Council is renewing its suite of waste management contracts which reach expiry dates in late 2014 and early 2015.

Coincident with these renewals is the consolidation of the separate contract service areas which reflected the previous local government boundaries of the Mackay, Mirani and Sarina local governments.

The suite of contracts to be tendered principally comprises:

• Waste and recyclables, including green waste, collection services
• Materials recovery facility (MRF) recyclables processing services
• Paget transfer station and Hogan’s Pocket landfill – Load, haul and landfill
• Paget transfer station – Operations
• Resource recovery facility (RRF)
• Minor transfer stations – Operations
• Minor transfer stations – RORO haulage to Hogan’s Pocket landfill
• Construction & demolition waste recycling
• Green waste management

This tender is for the recyclables processing Services. This contract is to continue, or replace, the services currently undertaken under a design, build & operate contract at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at 42 Crichton’s Road, Paget.

The services scope of the Recyclables Processing Services changes from the current Mackay city contract, including by:

• Alternative offers of Bulk transfer or Renewal Works to be considered by Council – the bulk transfer option was not in the previous tender or contract
• Renewal Works is to refurbish the MRF building and, to the extent required, replace the existing recyclables receival and processing plant
• Combination of Mackay, Mirani and Sarina contract areas.

The MRF must at least accept all recyclable waste collected under the Council’s waste collection contract 2014-066.
