Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs
Online Mindfulness Program
Details
Description
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) seeks the national delivery of a structured, evidence-informed Online Mindfulness Program to support the mental health and wellbeing of veterans and their families. The program will run over three years and must be accessible to participants across all regions of Australia, including rural and remote areas.
The program should be grounded in a recognised therapeutic or mindfulness frameworks. It must be culturally appropriate for veterans and their families, adaptable to different levels of participant readiness, and delivered in a safe, inclusive, trauma-aware online format. Flexibility and scalability are essential, with options for delivery outside standard business hours.
Delivery will be entirely online via secure video conferencing platforms and offered primarily in a group-based format, supported by individual onboarding or follow-up where appropriate.
The program is intended to complement Open Arms existing counselling services by providing a soft-entry, preventative support option. It should achieve outcomes including improved awareness and application of mindfulness strategies, enhanced coping and emotional regulation, reduced trauma- and stress-related symptoms, increased access to preventative mental health resources, and stronger long-term wellbeing through sustained mindfulness practice and peer connection.
