Block F Building upgrade Biosecurity area 28 Peter St Mareeba Qld

Overview

DAF are seeking the services of a qualified local builder and other sub-contractors to upgrade their Biosecurity facility Block F at the Mareeba office.

It is proposed that F block be upgraded into a modern Biosecurity Queensland processing facility with modern purpose-built processing areas offering safe work areas for day-to-day operations and in BQ responses for the far north Queensland area.

F block was built in 1979 as a purpose-built veterinary services branch work area along with the old meat inspectors work facility comprising of a small laboratory/sample processing area, an autopsy floor outside and a storeroom and containing asbestos material.
The F Block upgrade development will bring the facility in-line with Mareeba’s 10 year coordinated modernisation plan for the Mareeba research facility by modernising and extending the building’s poor design into an emergency response operations facility capable of running BQ’s Local Disease Control Centre.
