WA South Metropolitan Health Service
Electronic Instrument Tracking Solution
Details
Description
South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) requires an Electronic Instrument Tracking Solution for the Hospital Sterile Supply Unit (HSSU) at Rockingham General Hospital (RGH).
The solution is required in order for SMHS to comply with the requirements of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NHQHS) standards and in particular the requirements of Australian standard AS/NZS 4187:2014 (The Standard).
The Standard describes the use of a quality management system for reprocessing of reusable medical devices, including traceability within the hospital system. Health service organisations (HSO) are required to implement a traceability process for critical and semi-critical equipment, instruments, and devices. The solution must be capable of identifying the patient, procedure, and the reusable items used in each procedure.
RGH also intend to improve the reprocessing workflow and overall quality of the HSSU service by reducing the manual documentation burden.
