MFEP- Vegetation Management 2021/22 to 2025/26

Vegetation Management is undertaken throughout Melbourne Region to maintain & improve fuelbreak, and to prepare areas for planned burning. These works are undertaken to ensure the safety of the fire fighters by removing hazardous trees, hanging branches, exposed rocks and stumps from fuelbreaks. Also complex hazardous trees removal from areas identified for planned burning, and broad hectare mulching to help manage fuel loads.

This procurement is for schedule of rates for various machines and personnel required to undertake vegetation management works.

The tender has been separated into five (5) portions based on location of parks and the type of landscape e.g. forest, grasslands. Details of the separable portions can be found in Schedule 12 and with maps available as a separate document on Tender Vic website.

This contract will be for a total of five (5) years and structured as a 3 year contract with 2 x one year options.

As the works associated with this tender is dependant on outside factors (e.g. weather effects creating more hazardous trees, number of planned burns affect how many burns need works undertaken the following year), there is no guarantee on the amount of work to be approved each year. Some years many have a significant amount of works, while other years they may have minimal work, or no work, for some portions.
