South East Water has two Water Recycling Plants which generate sewage sludge and is contained in Sludge Lagoons. The sludge in these lagoons is required to be periodically pumped into drying pans at these two plants. The plants are Pakenham which has 3 pans and Somers 2 pans. We engage a supplier to provide dredging services for the open lagoons at these plants which includes site establishment, supply of all plant and equipment and resources to perform the work, management of the sludge pipeline, dredging system surveillance and monitoring, and site clean-up during operation and post demobilization.
Pakenham has a sludge lagoon with a surface area of 8000m2 and a depth of approximately 3.5m. Based on current inflows it is expected we will generate approximately 400tDS/yr.
Somers has 3 sludge lagoons each with a surface area of 9500m2 and a depth of approximately 3m. Based on current inflows it is expected we will generate approximately 400tDS/yr.
