Description

In accordance with the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (BC Act) and the Sandalwood Biodiversity Management Programme (SBMP), the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) will review and potentially revise a lawful sandalwood take quantity for the Minister to issue an order to replace the Sandalwood (Limitation on Removal of Sandalwood) Order (No. 2) 2015 (Sandalwood Order) in 2027. As part of this process, a panel of independent reviewers will be appointed to review the methodology, process and a draft report, which will help inform the setting of a new Sandalwood Order to apply from 2027. The work will be undertaken largely remotely and at periodic intervals to meet project milestones.
