Australian Government Department of Home Affairs
Supply of Destruction and Disposal Services
Details
Description
The provision of destruction and disposal services to the ABF is an essential service provision and cannot be interrupted or discontinued without alternative arrangements in place.
Any gap in service delivery will be detrimental to operations and have significant impact to the ABF. The ABF’s ability to safely store seized, abandoned and detained goods until destruction is limited to the capacity of the Detained Goods Management Stores.
The destruction and disposal services include the collection, transport, destruction and disposal of seized goods. The goods must be destroyed irreversibly such that they cannot be reconstituted or otherwise used for their original purpose. Destruction must occur on the same day as the goods are collected from the Department’s site and as such cannot be stored overnight prior to destruction.
The destruction site must provide access to the ABF, so that ABF can witness the destruction of the goods and written confirmation of destruction must be supplied by the service provider. The vast majority of goods requiring destruction will be tobacco.
