Description

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is responsible for managing the Perth Suburban Electrified Passenger Railway Network in Western Australia, as well as Bus and Ferry services across Perth. PTA utilises a large number of telecommunication services to support the operational requirements of a modern, reliable, transport service to the WA public. Chief amongst those service and operational requirements is the need to record specific communications for safety, patron security and training purposes. PTA currently uses two identical “Nice WordNet Series 3” voice loggers or recorders (hereafter named “voice recorders”), located in two separate PTA locations, recording the same audio information. The information being recorded is derived from 2W Siemens digital telephones, E1-bsaed two way radio channel and controller audio and 2W analogue audio. PTA also uses a smaller Addcom “Call Serve E” IP Telephony recorder, dedicated to a limited number of Siemens IP Telephony devices serving a Call Centre Training Area. This is not duplicated and is stand-alone. The existing WordNet voice recorders are end-of-life and require replacement as well as the IP Telephony call recorder requires better integration into the voice recorder service.
