WA Department of Transport
Provision of Services for Bike Week Grant Allocation, Coordination and Promotion of a Series of Bike Related Community Events
Details
Description
Bike Week is the Department of Transport’s (DoT) leading campaign for promoting cycling in Western Australia. Until 2015, DoT delivered Bike Week as a series of high quality events in partnership with community organisations. In the past two years, this has been contracted to the private sector to deliver Bike Week.
The objectives of Bike Week are to:
- Promote and encourage cycling as a means of transport and fun across metropolitan and regional Western Australia;
- Encourage under-represented groups including women, children and novice riders to try cycling;
- Grow the number of people cycling rather than using cars;
- Increase awareness of cycling routes to key destinations;
- Increase attendance and participation at Bike Week events; and
- Normalise the perception of bike riding in the community.
DoT is seeking an organisation to coordinate Bike Week in 2017 and 2018 and potential subsequent years up to a potential aggregate period of five years. Coordination involves managing stakeholders, allocating grants, promoting Bike Week and providing support and advice for event organisers.
