The Department of Education (DoE) manages a large and diverse range of sub portfolios and initiatives that are spread across numerous business areas including: State Schools; Early Childhood and Community Engagement; Policy, Performance and Planning; Corporate Services (Finance, Human Resources, Information Technologies, Infrastructure Services and Procurement Services); and the Office of Industrial Relations.
The process for managing DoE’s portfolio, programs and projects is currently characterised by inefficiencies. This includes inadequate levels of information and lack of automated tools to effectively plan, analyse, prioritise, sequence, evaluate, monitor and report on the performance and activities associated with:
• portfolios;
• sub-portfolios;
• programs; and
• projects.
