Mental Health Commission WA
Public Health Research and Evaluation Services
Details
Description
The Mental Health Commission (Commission) strives to establish mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) systems that meet the needs of Western Australia’s population and deliver quality outcomes for individuals and their families. The Commission’s vision is for a Western Australian community that experiences minimal AOD-related harms and optimal mental health.
Our mission is to be a respected leader in commissioning, providing and partnering in the delivery of:
• prevention, promotion and early intervention programs;
• treatment, services and supports; and
• research, policy and system improvements.
State-wide prevention, promotion and early intervention efforts are guided by The Western Australian Mental Health Promotion, Mental Illness, Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Plan 2018?2025 (the Plan).
The Plan identifies mental health and AOD public education and health promotion programs as an important component of a comprehensive approach to facilitate positive health outcomes for the Western Australian community. Robust research and data are essential to guiding the effective planning, commissioning, delivery and evaluation of these programs.
The Commission is seeking to establish a panel of research and evaluation providers with suitable experience and capacity to inform the development, delivery and outcomes of mental health and AOD prevention efforts in Western Australia. To reflect the variety of research and evaluation services required, two service categories will be established:
- Formative and program development research.
- Impact and outcome evaluation.
