BUNDAMBA FIRE AND RESCUE STATION Refurbishment of Existing Station

Bundamba fire station was constructed in 1984 and primarily designed to accommodate a 10/14 staffing model of one officer and two firefighters. The current facility operates one appliance with a staffing establishment of four personnel per shift. The objective of the project is to provide an emergency response capability, which will allow QFES to meet the current and projected demand for services, and to maintain key performance indicators for vehicle response times in the Bundamba area. Offers are being sought from suitable builders to construct the project utilising a Design and Construct contract. The proposal for the new works consists generally of the following:
• Demolish/remove an existing residence from an adjoining lot.
• A major refurbishment of the existing station including demolition of internal walls to allow for a configuration of spaces.
• Extend the existing station to include: Duty Office; Toilet/Shr areas; Recline Rooms, Gym and a connection to a new engine room.
• Construct a new 3 bay Engine Room including equipment room, commissioning room, drying room, etc.
• A new covered outdoor area.
• New site civil, landscape, retaining wall works to suit the new development.
• Alteration of Brisbane Road to allow for a new crossover.
