Supply of Eleven (11) Vaccines to the Communicable Disease Control Directorate, Department of Health

The Communicable Disease Control Directorate (CDCD), Department of Health (DOH) is responsible for the provision of immunisation related services throughout Western Australia, including the distribution of vaccines to immunisation providers and the provision of consultancy, educational and promotional services to immunisation providers and the general public.

The immunisation program in WA is run in accordance with the National Immunisation Program (NIP) Schedule and approptiate contractual arrangements are in place for NIP vaccines at the Commonwealth & State levels.

This Request will be for the Supply of ten (10) vaccines not associated with the NIP Schedule and that are traditionally the responsibility of State jurisdictions.

These include:

• Rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is recommended for all persons with risky animal bites sustained anywhere in Bali (as for other parts of Indonesia, South-East Asia and other parts of the world where rabies is endemic).
• Hepatitis A and B vaccines for adults at risk of acquiring these infections by sexual transmission and/or injecting drug use.
• The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) also recommends that combined hepatitis A and B vaccine be considered for certain groups.
• Arrivals under the Humanitarian Entrants Scheme.
• Case management of specific notifiable diseases (e.g. meningococcal).

The contracts established as a result of this Request may be awarded in any of the following ways:

• A single supplier for individual items or groups of items; or
• A panel of suppliers.

The proposed contract will operate as a standing offer arrangement with orders to be placed on an ‘as required’ basis during the contract term.

The Department of Health will seek to apply the lower of any Commonwealth negotiated prices through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), National Immunisation Program (NIP) and the tendered price.
