This procurement relates to the Government’s October 2020 budget announcements for “Streamlining private sector action to support emissions reductions”, that responds to the key recommendations from the Final Report of the Expert Panel examining additional sources of low-cost abatement (‘the King Review’).

The four-year program will streamline and upgrade agency registries and systems, plus add a new exchange platform for more efficient buying and selling emission reduction units with the aim to lower the costs and facilitate government and private sector purchases of these units. The outcome will see the agency’s registries and scheme systems rebuilt and consolidated on a new platform.The systems enhancements and new platform are underpinned by rules engine technology, as a foundation on which the architecture will revolve around.
