Description

Aerial services, including provision of a suitable helicopter, an experienced pilot and a ground vehicle for refuelling, are required to carry out the aerial goat control component of the Bounceback Program’s feral goat control program. The Bounceback Program is a broad-scale, landscape restoration program that aims to promote recovery of native vegetation and fauna communities in the Flinders, Gawler and Olary ranges. Through NRM partnerships, the program aims to encourage and assist landholders to undertake integrated control of feral goats on their properties.

As an important component of Bounceback’s pest control program, an annual aerial cull of feral goats takes place in March each year in the Flinders and Olary Ranges. More than 80,000 goats have been removed from reserves and pastoral properties by aerial operations since the commencement of aerial control in the mid 1990s. The aerial cull operates across government and non-government reserves and pastoral properties. It is usually held in March, over an estimated annual maximum time period of 150 hours.
