Description

Supply and install Natural Gas to Booth 2 (which is to remain in operation) and ready for connection to the new Booth 1. Demolition of Booth 1 and Paint Room and making good ready for new installations. Supply and Installation of new Booth, Paint Mixing Room, and Paint Preparation Equipment. The use of efficient and reliable natural gas supply for booth operations; Provision of a larger spray booth with glass wall / viewing windows to enable supervision / viewing without entering the booth; Provision of a modern paint mixing room with excellent lighting, equipment, storage and ventilation for all users. Provision of the latest technology for training students in how to achieve quality finishes; and New fit for purpose, modern and safe spray-painting facilities to support and expand training for the automotive industry into the future. NOTE: Tenderers must be prequalified for Building Works: Institutional above the $250,000 financial limit, or to a value equal to or greater than their tender price. TasTAFE’s autobody spray painting training is only carried out at the Devonport Campus where two spray booths are located. Booth 1 was installed in the 1980s and has not been working for the last 5 years. Booth 2 was installed in the 1990s and has recently had some repairs and maintenance carried out to keep it operating. The existing paint room has poor ventilation due to the age / size of the mechanical systems; limited preparation spaces due to the design being based on the existing building configuration; and poor lighting. The paint room needs to be modernised to meet operational requirements and environmental and safety standards. The replacement of Booth 1 is required to achieve productivity and efficiency during practical training blocks so that students are not waiting around for other work to be finished and the quality of work is not compromised The project comprises three separate work components: This procurement is for Phase C.
