Description

The Department of Defence initiated a program of utilising AIT in the form of Unique Identification (UID) across the department to improve accountability and life cycle management of serial managed items. The Department of Defence requires a Deed of Standing Offer arrangement to sustain the supply of Unique Identification (UID) Labels/Marks and provide associated services where UID will be expanded and emerging technologies such as passive radio frequency identification (PRFID) provide improved capability.

It is envisaged that UID labels/marking would be applied through three differing mechanisms:

a. The retrofitting of UID labels/marking to materiel which has been introduced into service and which is located in organisations in all areas of Australia listed in Annex B to this Attachment A.

b. The application of UID labels/marking by the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) during the acquisition process of new capability; and

c. The replacement of UID labels/marking that have been applied to materiel through one of the above mechanisms and have been damaged or lost and needs replacement.

In addition, Defence requires an AIT solution that leverages extant inventory management software applications/Enterprise Resource Program to deliver a capability that enables the nesting of items of Supply (IOS) within Unique Item Identifiers (UII) for ease of issue and receipt, accounting, transportation, and storage while also providing a level of security assurance.
