Provision of Application Infrastructure Engineer Services - Firearms Reform Program

The WA Police Force, Technology Portfolio is seeking to engage a Contractor who can provide Application Infrastructure Engineer Services to work on the Firearms Act Reform (FAR) Program. The Licensing & Registry (L&R) application is a key WA Police Force application used to manage the workflow supporting the management of firearms and firearm licenses within Western Australia. Following assent of the new Firearms Act 2024, significant changes to this application along with the delivery of a public facing portal on 31 March 2025, the FAR Program continues to deliver on commitments the WA Police Force have made to Government for the delivery of the technology solution to support the new Act. On-going assessment of the proposed legislative changes and the current Firearms IT System, the L&R system has determined implementation of the new legislation will require a significant rebuild of L&R to facilitate the digital processes required to enable the legislation. In addition, several new elements will have to be delivered to facilitate the public interaction the new legislation will necessitate. The solution is currently in Tranche 2 of 3, where it is looking to deliver the core functionality that the Licensing Enforcement Division (LED) has determined must be in place to support the implementation of the new legislation. This Contract will provide adequately experienced Application Infrastructure Engineer resources on an as-needed basis to support this work, the next Tranche, and further work as needed and determined by the FAR Program - potentially up until 30 June 2029.
