Description

The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), the Department of Agriculture and Food Western Australia (DAFWA) and the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) are the joint owners (hereafter referred to as the “OWNERS”) of new hay oat cultivars emanating from SARDI’s oat breeding program.
The National Oat Breeding Program (NOBP) has a sound track record for developing and releasing varieties that have improved agronomic, yield and quality traits over existing varieties, thus ensuring growers and end users maximise their economic return.

The OWNERS are looking to develop a long term partnership with a commercialising company interested in co-investment in the hay oat component of the NOBP. The identification and selection of a commercial partner to be granted exclusive commercialisation rights to any variety will be conducted via an open and transparent process. Commercial partners willing and able to contribute earlier in the identification and multiplication of future hay oat varieties for commercial release will be viewed favourably, with a view that such commercially driven contributions will maximise the adoption of hay oat varieties and enhance profitability of growers.
