The Western Australian Government is the lead proponent for the state’s first onshore carbon capture and storage (CCS) project.
The South West Hub project is managed by the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) through the Carbon Strategy Branch based in the Bunbury office of the Department.
The South West Hub is a phased development project. The first phase of the project entailed the acquisition of pre-competitive data and included the drilling of a stratigraphic well which confirmed the suitability of the Lesueur Sandstone Measures of the Southern Perth Basin in the Harvey/Waroona shires. Further investigative work has since been carried out, including a 3D seismic study and a three well drilling program in 2014/15.
The core and data from the drilling program is currently being analysed.
The DMP is seeking a suitably qualified person for the provision of Communications Manager Services for the South West Hub project. The successful Respondent will be required to actively maintain a communications plan and to prepare material for public distribution.
It is the DMP’s preference for a single person to be able to fulfil most of the tasks of this role and be available at short notice to undertake duties. The duties include, but are not limited to:
• Maintaining register of media and community contacts;
• Preparing written material suitable for local and state media;
• Arranging media events;
• Arranging community communication events;
• Preparing advertisements for local media;
• Reviewing the DMP’s CCS website;
• Preparing materials for the DMP’s web site and DMP publications;
• Assisting with presentations; and
• Preparing summaries or editing “Knowledge Sharing” material (scientific and technical) for a non-technical audience.
The successful Respondent will be responsible for the following deliverables:
• Project summaries/reports as required;
• Newsletters; and
• Technical report summaries, e.g. project summaries, newsletters etc.?
In addition the successful Respondent will provide:
• Communication material suitable for the community and a broader national and international audience; and
• Effective communication advice to deliver set objectives.
