Quality Control and Verification of Digital Well Log Data

The Department of Mines and Petroleum has a requirement for quality control and verification of digital well log data submitted to the Department of Mines and Petroleum (the “Department”) for petroleum exploration in the State.
It is a requirement for the petroleum exploration industry to supply data to the Department for all activities the company may conduct within a petroleum title. Part of the submission requirements is to supply digital well log data for any petroleum wells drilled. This information is required to be submitted as complete data sets of edited field and processed data for all Wireline and Measurement While Drilling logs conducted in the well.
These data sets then become available to the public after a statutory period of time has elapsed. To ensure this data is complete and correctly formatted the Department requires a quality control program to be initiated.
