Joint Health Command Garrison Facilities Upgrade Project – Head Contract (HC-1 2003) Simpson VIC

The project aims to provide fit-for-purpose, contemporary healthcare facilities as part of a comprehensive infrastructure solution intended to address deficiencies around condition and functionality of priority Joint Health Command facilities, providing primary health and associated health care to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel around Australia.

The works involved include construction services for a range of new build and refurbishment of existing health centre solutions.It will include demolition of some existing health centres.

A new health centre at Simpson Barracks will be constructed on a sloped site adjacent to the existing Simpson Health Centre. The existing Health Centre will be demolished, and converted into a carpark, upon completion and transition into the new facility. During the works, a portion of the existing facility will be required to be demolished, while maintaining operations to the remainder of the facility, to allow for construction of the new facility. This will require appropriate site coordination/management by the contractor. The single storey building is approximately 1,600m2 and will be a steel framed structure with a steel roof and will include services and finishes typical of modern health facilities. It will be a comprehensive modern health facility similar to a General Practice Super-Clinic with aspects of a regional hospital.
