Childrens Court of WA Panel of Experts - Psychiatrists Psychologists and Social Workers

The Children’s Court of Western Australia (the ‘Court’) is part of the Court and Tribunal Services Directorate within the Department of the Attorney General, which in turn is part of the wider justice system. The Children’s Court of Western Australia is responsible for determining offences alleged to have been committed by young people between the ages of 10 and 17 years (inclusive); and dealing with protection and care applications where there is a concern a child is in need of protection because of a threat of abuse or neglect.

The role of this panel is to interview children and their families who are the subject of an application for protection and care, and submit findings in report format as directed by the Court.

These reports will relate to a range of issues regarding the welfare and care of these children. The Court will require information relating to issues such as abuse, neglect, accommodation, parental suitability etc.

The purpose of these reports is to better inform the decision making process within the Children’s Court of Western Australia.
