Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) was established in 2017 as a Government Business Enterprise to support the Commonwealth's continuous naval shipbuilding program. ANI owns, develops, and manages infrastructure and related facilities at the Osborne Naval Shipyard (ONS).
Located at Osborne, South Australia, the ONS encompasses over 175 hectares on the Lefevre Peninsula, approximately 19 km north of Adelaide. It features various sites and facilities dedicated to naval ship and submarine construction and sustainment activities.
The ONS is recognised as Australia's sovereign defence industrial base and is home to some of the country's largest and most complex defence projects.
Current tenants at ONS include:
- BAE for the Hunter Class program
- Luerssen for the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) program
- ASC for the Collins Class sustainment and life-of-type extension
On March 14, 2023, the Commonwealth Government announced the Optimal Pathway for acquiring conventionally armed Nuclear-Powered Submarine (NPS) capabilities for Australia. A key component of this plan is the construction of NPS in South Australia.
ANI is leading the development of the NPS construction yard (NPSCY) at Osborne, with the preferred location undergoing a comprehensive evaluation and characterisation program.
ANI will collaborate closely with the Australian Submarine Agency, the Australian Shipbuilder Joint Venture, various regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders, including AUKUS partners, to ensure that the design and construction of infrastructure meet required schedules and adhere to the highest standards of nuclear safety and security.
This is a significant undertaking for ANI, involving the development of extensive and technically complex infrastructure, with the construction phase anticipated to span over a decade.
ANI looks forward to engaging with you on the supply of goods and services for the expansion, modernisation, and operation of the ONS. For future work opportunities, please visit this ICN portal regularly and ensure you have notifications in place.
