Provision of Contamination Monitoring Services for Illicit Drugs

The AFP maintains good health and safety practices at AFP premises where the handling of illicit drugs for evidentiary purposes is required. The AFP has previously engaged industry specialists to develop Acceptable Levels for the presence of illicit drug contamination (Appendix B) at AFP premises.

To ensure any contamination remains at Acceptable Levels, the AFP has engaged specialist cleaning services. To ensure the effectiveness of these cleaning services, the AFP requires ongoing testing to be conducted at regular intervals to monitor contamination levels and to ensure action is taken if contamination occurs. Clearance Certificates are issued when Acceptable Levels are confirmed by testing.
