Review of Commonwealth Grants Commission's business processes

This project involves a review of the Commission’s current business processes. The appropriateness, efficiency and efficacy of the current processes are the focus and identifying areas that need improvement and suggesting ways of improvement are the required outcomes.

The Commission calculates States’ fiscal capacities on which it bases its recommendations. To do this, its data collection and calculation system (‘the data management system’) is a vital part of its business processes. The review needs to evaluate whether there are better ways of collecting, inputting, manipulating and analysing data, including whether these can be better integrated; and whether the Commission’s current in-house built calculation system is the best way of meeting the Commission’s data repository, calculation, analysis and reporting requirements.
