The Department for Education has identified a need to implement a waste management services contract across all departmental school sites located on Minister for Education land.The contract/s will be managed centrally by the department.

The contract is expected to commence on 1 July 2022 for an initial term of five (5) years with an option to for three (3) years + two (2) years (5+3+2), at the Ministers discretion.

The key outcomes of the contract include:

• Centralise waste management service contract(s) within the Department for Education (DfE).
• Simplify process of contract administration and management.
• Provide a consistent standard of waste services across all DfE Sites.
• Appoint Contractor(s) that have the capabilities, capacity and experience to safely provide waste management services to all DfE Sites.
• Ensure all waste management practices conducted on Site and the Services provided by Contractor(s) meet all relevant legislative and compliance requirements.
• Reduce waste generation and maximise resource recovery through then implementation of consistent, simple, and effective recycling programs.
• Establish accurate reporting of waste volumes and diversion outcomes for DfE Sites.
• Assist DfE Sites to transition to managing waste and resources in a way that supports the circular economy
