WA Department of Water
Surveying of Groundwater and Surface Water Fixed Assets
Details
Description
The Department of Water (DoW; the Customer) is the custodian of Western Australia’s water resources. As such, it has a vested interest in ensuring that these water resources are accurately monitored, to enable informed assessments to be undertaken.
The DoW regularly monitors almost 2500 bores across the State within a larger network of an estimated 9000 bores. The surface water network consists of more than 350 gauging stations. Surveying of bores and gauging stations is required when new sites are constructed or damaged sites are repaired or replaced.
The Department of Water is dedicated to maintaining its groundwater and surface water assets and needs to engage a suitably qualified and experienced surveying service provider to ensure that the network is maintained to a high standard.
The program of works will primarily involve the vertical levelling of bores and surface water gauging stations. Surveying is required when new or replacement bores or gauging stations are constructed and where maintenance work is carried out on existing sites that alter the site’s datums. There is also the requirement to provide accurate GPS locations of bores and gauging stations to GDA94.
