Provision of Ruminant Testing Kits for Large Export Shipments

The Animal Health Laboratories (AHL) at the Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA) provides a variety of services at its laboratories at South Perth and Albany, Western Australia, including testing for diagnosis, export accreditation and disease eradication. Export accreditation of animals being exported from Australia to export markets usually requires that they test negative to a range of diseases that are performed by an approved animal health laboratory. The range of tests is specified by the importing country.

DAFWA’s AHL is a NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) accredited testing laboratory and the only laboratory certified for performing livestock export testing in Western Australia. Through this Request, DAFWA is seeking a suitably qualified Respondent for the provision of ruminant test kits at short notice for export shipments performed on an as required basis. The following bacterial and viral testing kits are required:

• Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus;
• Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis;
• Bluetongue; and
• Johnes Disease.

DAFWA’s preference is to award the resultant contract to a single Contractor for all test kits, however, separate contracts may be awarded for individual bacterial and viral testing kits if that represents the best value for money outcome for DAFWA.
