Description

The Department of Water is seeking to conduct a geophysical study of the Pilbara Region. This study will look to expand the understanding of aquifer geometries and groundwater salinity distribution beyond the area covered by borefield drilling information, which is spatially limited to only the area of the borefield. The information gathered will be used primarily to support the development of regional groundwater models along the Pilbara coast. The geophysical study will also include delineation of any onshore seawater interface and shallow basement topography. The likely geophysical tools to be used but not necessarily limited to,are airborne electromagnetics (salinity distribution and river channel identification) and gravity (basement topography).
