Description

The Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF) is a completely new approach to the way we deliver social and affordable housing in NSW. Together with providing homes to those who need them most, it offers residents coordinated access to support tailored to their individual needs − giving them the tools they need to improve their lives. It is designed to empower people to live more independent lives and, for some, to move beyond the need for housing support. The SAHF has the potential to change how the NSW social housing system works. In December 2018 contracts for the second phase of the SAHF project were awarded to four ServiceCos: - Anglican Community Services- Housing Plus - SGCH Portfolio Limited - The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (NSW) Each ServiceCo will deliver a package for 25 years that consists of:- Access to accommodation- Asset management and tenancy management services - Tailored support services for each household member - Performance and data reporting Over 3,400 social and affordable homes in metropolitan and regional NSW will be delivered. Each household will also benefit from a tailored support service as part of their tenancy. The SAHF NSW fund is a ring fenced entity, established in legislation, the Social and Affordable Housing NSW Fund Act 2016. The NSW Government has invested over $1 billion in SAHF NSW. This funding is invested in markets by the NSW Government’s investment arm, NSW Treasury Corporation, to generate returns that are then applied to NSW Government contractual commitments. Monthly Service Payments are distributed from the Social and Affordable Housing NSW Fund published by Treasury each year, for example:https://www.treasury.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-11/20221122_01_nsw_treasury_annual_report_2021-22.pdf
