The Western Australia Police Force utilises memory barcode scanners as well as barcode label printers (which print a standardised format of labels) for tracking and recording movement of property and Physical Material
The barcode scanners are utilised to scan and record property and exhibits, and upload data into both the WA Police Force Forensic Register and the Incident Management System (IMS).
The equipment is utilised state-wide by staff attached to police stations, the Forensic Division and the Property Management Division.
The WA Police Force requires a source of supply for on-demand purchases of contemporary barcode scanners and printers, including the supply of IMS labels, to achieve the following:
- Receipting, dispatch and stock take of found and seized property;
- Tracking and recording the movement of found and seized property;
- Permit data transfer requirements, i.e. recording the movement of found and seized property in the IMS; and
- The audit and review process of the management of property and exhibits.
