Kirk Point Boat Ramp Upgrade Project

An upgrade is planned for the existing boat ramp near Kirk Point, at Point Wilson, approximately 10km east of Avalon Airport.

A pre-existing boat ramp and car park, which were both constructed at the site several years ago, require upgrading due to increased demand and to minimise ecological impacts.

The Victorian Government via Better Boating Victoria is investing $4 million to upgrade the existing boat ramp, as part of the Victorian Recreational Boating Strategy Action Plan 2022-2023.

The Kirk Point Ramp Upgrade Project will provide a new visitor experience at this tucked away site, with a design that respects the environmental and cultural characteristics of the site.

Detailed designs are being prepared for the boat ramp and car park comprising the following components

- an improved, safe recreational boating facility and

- protect nearby sensitive native vegetation

- upgrading the car park capacity and safety

An exciting opportunity is available for suitably qualified contractors to work with Parks Victoria via a construction tender process. A public (single stage) tender will be made available on the Buying for Victoria Website in early 2023, inviting submissions to participate in the tendering process.

Contractors will be invited to tender a lump sum contract sum to construct the works under a AS2124 Contract.

The terms of the Construction Contract will be issued with the invitation to tender.

Tenderers should note that the project is a Working for Victoria initiative, it will be registered with the Industry Capability Network (ICN) soon, and tenderers will be required to submit a Local Industry Development Plan (LIDP) as part of their tender submission.
